These ‘stuffies’ and bean bags were developed for my elementary students at Royal Vale Elementary School in Montreal. Children, 6 to 8 years old, are quite able to do such stitches as the running, stitch, the satin stitch, whip stitch and French knots. These popular projects are now packaged as kits for any child. Just follow instructions and get a little help from Mom or Grandma.
‘Stuffies’
The jolly ‘stuffy’ snowman uses 2 stitches: running stitch and satin Stitch. Included in the kit: pre-cut snowman, scarf and hat, needle, black thread and pins. You need stuffing (cotton balls or batting will do) and scissors. Completed snowman measures 8” x 3 1/4” from hat to bottom and width of largest snowball. Cost: $10 + mailing.
The little ‘stuffy’ bear uses 3 stitches: running stitch, satin stitch and French knot. Included in the kit: pre-cut bear, scarf and mittens, needle, black thread and pins. You need stuffing (cotton balls or batting will do) and scissors. Completed bear measures 7” x 7” from ear to foot and mitten to mitten. Cost: $10 + mailing.
The mischievous ‘stuffy’ monkey uses 3 stitches: running stitch, whip stitch and French knot. Included in the kit: pre-cut monkey, including face, ears, hands and feet, needle, black thread and pins. You need stuffing (cotton balls or batting will do) and scissors. Completed monkey measures 7” x 5” from head to toe and hand to hand. Cost: $10 + mailing.
Bean Bags
The lady bug bean bag uses 1 stitch – the running stitch. Included in the kit: pre-cut lady bug, head and spots, needle, black and red thread and pins. You need dry beans and scissors. Completed bug measures 5” x 4”, from head to bottom and side to side. Cost: $10 + mailing.
The silly face bean bag uses 2 stitches: running stitch and French knot. Included in the kit: pre-cut silly face, needle, black thread and pins. You need dry beans and scissors. Completed face measures 4” in diameter. Cost: $10 + mailing.
The happy face bean bag uses 3 stitches: running stitch, satin stitch and French knot. Included in the kit: pre-cut face, needle, black thread and pins. You need dry beans and scissors. Completed face measures 4” in diameter. Cost: $10 + mailing.
